The aim of this programme is to provide qualified labour force to the sector to perform the tasks of planning and follow-up in the fields of production, assembly and maintenance in the automotive sector, mechanical designer and service technician in automotive factories. Graduates receive the title of ‘AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN’. OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT The aim of the programme is to gain knowledge and skills about the design of automobile, construction machinery, machine etc. parts, strength calculations, working principles of engine and chassis parts, operation of electrical and electronic systems. It aims to train students as a professional staff in the branch with the knowledge, skills and competencies to follow the current automotive technologies, current information and technologies in the field of automotive after-sales service. The automotive sector, which is rising and entering a new era in the world and in our country, is one of the sectors with the widest value chain that includes processes from production to distribution, service services to customer service. Automotive Technology Programme; It is a higher education programme that provides two-year associate degree level education in order to ensure that the qualified intermediate manpower required by the automotive sector, both in production and after-sales service levels, are trained in accordance with the quality and service philosophy that will meet the expectations of the age. Within our programme, in addition to the theoretical information that forms the basis for the training of technical staff, practical information is also given and the lack of practical training in their branches is eliminated with the business internships they have done in the institutions working in their fields. HISTORY The programme was established in Iğdır Vocational School of Technical Sciences in 2018 and started education with 10 students in 2019-2020 academic year. The programme continues its education under the name of Automotive Technologies Programme within the Department of Motor Vehicles and Transportation.

BÖLÜMÜN HEDEFİ Program otomobil, iş makinesi, makine vb. parçalarının tasarımını, mukavemet hesaplarını, motor ve şasi parçalarının çalışma prensipleri, elektrik ve elektronik sistemlerin çalışması hakkında bilgi ve beceri kazandırmaktır. Öğrencilerin güncel otomotiv teknolojileri otomotiv satış sonrası servis alanında güncel bilgi ve teknolojileri takip edebilecek bilgi, beceri ve yetkinliklere sahip branşında meslek elemanı olarak yetişmelerini hedeflemektedir.

• Course Contents / Course Catalog

Double Major Program: Allows students to earn a bachelor's degree in a field they are interested in, in addition to their primary field. In this program, students can complete courses in two different fields and​ earn a diploma in both fields.

Minor Program: Allows students to take a certain number of courses in a field they are interested in, outside of their major. Students who complete the minor program are given an official certificate in that field; however, this does not mean a second undergraduate degree.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates of this programme have the opportunity to work in the fields of design, production, assembly quality control, post-production maintenance and service in automotive, machinery and defence industries. They can establish their own service and workshops with the training given.

Post-graduation working areas are quite wide. Our graduates are mainly employed in automotive factories, auto parts sub-industry, services, auto dealerships, roadside assistance companies, airlines ground services, machine manufacturing and design fields.

In addition, our students who want to make vertical transfer can continue their 4-year education in the relevant undergraduate programmes with the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS).
